Dr. Natalie Masiuk
Dr. Natalie Masiuk was born in Annapolis, MD. After receiving her undergraduate degree from Auburn University, she returned to Maryland to complete her medical school degree at the University of Maryland.
When asked what her favorite part of being a pediatric dentist is, Dr. Masiuk says “Having a child getting through a “tough” appointment, to have them turn to me and say “that wasn’t bad at all!” Or extracting a tooth and having a patient ask incredulously “it’s already out?!”
Also, she was inspired to become a dentist because after having an extensive amount of dental work done as a child, she wanted to provide the same level of care to other children.
Dr. Masiuk is a big fan of animals, with two pets of her own (an Egyptian Mau Cat and an energetic yellow lab puppy).
When Dr. Masiuk isn’t helping children with their dental care needs, she enjoys cooking, baking, sewing, painting, bike riding, hiking, camping, and reading. She is also a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, and believes that more empathy is needed in the world. In her words, “If everyone had the ability to understand each other’s viewpoints, the world would be a better place.”
If she wasn’t a pediatric dentist, what would she do? “I would teach ballet, but I’m very happy being a kids dentist and seeing the smiles on their faces each and every day.”
Dr. Heather Burns
Dr. Heather Burns was born in Bethlehem, PA. After graduating from LeHigh University, she then went on to attend dental school at Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry.
Dr. Burns was influenced by both her mother and older sister, both of whom are in the medical field as a Nurse Practitioner and Orthodontist respectively. During her pediatric dental residency, Dr. Burns was chosen to serve as chief resident, an honor which she accepted with great pride and joy.
When asked what her favorite part of being a pediatric dentist is, Dr. Burns said “Being able to work with children and their families to help them have healthy smiles. I wanted to provide a friendly environment for children to learn that going to the dentist can be fun.”
Out of the office, Dr. Burns has many hobbies and causes that she cares about deeply. First and foremost, she loves spending time with her niece and nephew. In fact, she’s grown quite fond of Spiderman, as she often reads Spider Man stories to her 5 year old nephew.
In addition to family, she has also participated in outreach trips to Mexico, Nicaragua, and Jamaica to provide free dental care to people that do not have regular access to such services.
She also enjoys running, swimming, and other healthy outdoor activities.
